GRRRRRR! While the US gets hit with snowstorms, the grass is still green on this side. Ironic. Snow is not expected to fall and stay around until late December or early January. The trailer is ready, the car is ready, both have been ready for a bit now! ARGH! this pisses me off!
Anyhow, the waiting time has given me the opportunity to complete the CARS section of my Group B shrine. Yup, every Group B rally car is in there, including the prototypes, post-evolutions (Pikes Peak), and Group S prototypes! The section also got a face-lift where I’ve added thumbnail pics to each car. You can click on the pic to get the associated page without opening a new tab. If you liked the new tabs, simply click on the name instead!
In truth, this exercise was for my own knowledge gain. I have learned a LOT by researching the material and I must say that it was not easy. Some cars had very little information available while other had conflicting information. I had to sort through the manure pile that is today’s internet and gather what I considered to be the real or most logical facts. While I did paste/copy SOME text, most of it is of my own writing and structure.
As I’ve said before, the website is my own archive / personal journal of my passions and hobbies. I share it because it is somewhat convenient of keeping the facts straight about these specific subjects of which I love. There’s no trash in here… Well, considering what you’d normally call internet trash and trolling. If it can help other people to learn about the all mighty 80’s then all the better. There’s nothing for you to learn from my car projects though. It’s only an entertaining distraction. Only I can learn from doing what I am doing.
Not to mention that it seems to piss off a lot of people that consider a Subaru something sacred not to be trifled with. I am now more or less an outcast in Québec’s Subaru community with some saying that I have no place in it due to my “transgressions”. Typical attitude for folks around here I’d say. There’s no more “Subaru” in the website title anyhow so just consider my car no longer a Subaru, live happy, and leave me the hell be.
Why am I babbling about anyway? This was a Group B post! Yeah, Group B rules! F-yeah! Anyhow, let’s just say that the more I’ve deepened my understanding of the era, the more that I find similarities with my own ideas and views on what makes a pure rally car. If some piss broke Russian guys could create spaceframe prototypes with old communist tech in a bus factory then it gives me great confidence that I will succeed with Wabi~Sabi. I just need to stay the course and remain patient. I will have my Group B car eventually… DIY style! Of course, very little of the original STi will remain, except the forward cabin section and mechanical bits. I’m not smart enough to build a new chassis from scratch so I’ll be reverse engineering mine as I always did so far. I’m giving myself lots of time to do this since my health seems to have stabilized lately. 2020 is my deadline but it’s not set in stone as always.
Meanwhile, enjoy the Group B Shrine! I’ll be revising & completing the rest while I wait for friggin’ snow to come!
