Ah yes, The Look by Roxette, yet another 80s wonder… Note to mention that this song was playing in the Hyundai Tiburon owned by David’s brother when David crashed it (on loan, mind you). Ah, memories. I saw all of it in my rearview mirror. The slide, the ditch, the roll over… the song! Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na she’s got the look! Well, not afterwards she didn’t! Go to the 1989 year of my 80s music shrine if you feel the urge. It’s in there, somewhere…
Where was I now? Ah yes! As you guys know, I need my project to remain my own entirely, so I very rarely accept other people’s input. I did it only once if I recall: it was the contest for the new name of the car. Wabi~Sabi won and so it remains to this day. This time it pertains to the stage my project is going to be at the end of the year. Yes, I know, I was supposed to get the girl all dirty by now but I just couldn’t resist cutting into that cold flesh again first. Little miss gold-digger got a new bum-bum so she needs a new nose to match! Those who know the project best can guess where that’s going. There’s hints all over. The current trend will continue. After all that is said and done, I thought that it will be time to choose a final livery of the car. Since the car will never officially compete, the choices are endless, and potentially humorous.
I’ve thought of many things on my own, including the obvious choice of keeping the ever lasting current ragged matte black with red OCD stripe. It’s sort of a “reversed rally car” (those are normally always white) if I can so steal the words from Nigel. I like it, modeled this blog after the design even, but that doesn’t mean it cannot change. I’ve also thought of using that air-brush that’s been collecting dust for the past 15 years in a drawer somewhere. Something like painting fake panels, rivets, bolts, welds, etc. Similar to if the car was put up together piece by piece. I could paint the actual cut lines I’ve used to shorten the car multiple times. Or I could go post-apocalypse shit like adding fake rust or burn marks. Then there’s “fake” liveries, something that looks like an actual sponsor design but is not real, in the lines of one that I saw a few years ago in the 24h of Lemons:
“Ded Bull”. Rolled on its back, X in the eyes. Hilarious! Made me roll on the floor in laughter almost. Brilliant! Now, I’m not saying blatant rip-offs of other people’s designs but it can be inspired by them. No, that’s not the same thing… not to me anyway.
That’s where I allow you some input. I don’t want advice, except if it is for the status quo. I actually want specific livery ideas. I don’t want to get your hopes up and will not be making it a contest. No matter if one idea gets X amount of “votes”, I have the final say, and may or may not go with any idea you guys come with at all. It’s harsh but it’s how I roll. My car, my project, my prerogative. Just giving you a small chance to chime in. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll get it past me… this once only. Remember, it needs to be cheap enough to jive with my wallet too.
Leave it here, the usual way, by commenting on this post. No rush, you guys have time.
