A comedic break from the rants! We don’t want that rage to add-up now don’t we? Hehehe…
Ahhh the ’80s, when will you stop inspiring me ? I made the following for the 2015 STI controversial unveiling:
Hehehe… I’m making myself laugh!
I assume most of you saw the Back to the Future trilogy… If you don’t get the joke then you really need to see it! and punch yourself in the nads for not learning the classics! See, part of the second Back to the Future movie takes place in 2015 (the ’80s vision of it anyway), and cars are able to fly in that year! That, plus it was a small stab at most people’s unrealistic expectations of the new model. Really guys? I mean… are we still so dumb?
When I first saw the 2nd movie in 1989, man did 2015 seem so far away, a lifetime away I thought back then. In my young mind, there was no reason to doubt stuff like that would happen for real. Sure some stuff in that movie actually seem backwards to what we have now, but remember that CGI was limited back then and simulating actual future tech was tough. Heck, even Star Trek still had those silly tape computers with blinking colored lights. Of course, as a more mature person, my perception has changed and I laugh at it now. It’s funny that most people who write sci-fi movies seem to have trouble gauging the advancement of tech in time. Sure, I understand that since WWII, there’s been leaps and bounds, and that may affect our overall perception of the phenomenon.
However, I think that this perception will be reduced with the newer generations. See, imagine how a man from the middle ages waking up in modern times would react. The adaptation period surely would be difficult for that person due to total incomprehension and fear induced by lack of reference. Religion can’t help you here bro, sorry to say! In contrast, catapult yourself 500 years from now, and I’m sure although bewildering some stuff will appear, it’ll most likely trigger such responses as “Cool! – They invented this! – Why has this not changed much?”. You already know tech, you know of science, you know that is possible, thus your mind is open. OK, so you might be treated as a retard by the others, but trust me it ain’t so bad, especially when you can prove to them you’re still capable! Not saying that they’d be right though as newer generations have proved to be less human and more zombie machines. That being said, even though most movies saw us deep into space exploration in the next decades, I know fully well that it won’t happen in my lifetime.
In the end, it’s OK to dream, just don’t be putting date stamps on them! Oh, and if somebody doesn’t make what you’d like (*cough* your dream STi), just fking do it yourself! You like the tech but not the styling? Rip it to shreds and graft the skin you want. Everything is possible!
