Everyone (or everything) needs a “nemesis”! I just might have found mine! A friend sent me this:
This is a Mitsubishi Evo IX coupe built by Simon Norris of Norris Designs UK.
I’m not a fan of Kawasaki green but that is one heck of a machine indeed!
I’ve read up a bit and some similarities with my basic concept are eerie… what a coincidence! Overall dimensions look similar, its “dry weight” is 1180 KG (2600 pounds). Add 15 gallons of fuel plus a spare tire like mine and it might be real close to my 1225 Kg (2700 pounds). There’s even a uniwiper system although mine is a take-off from a Mercedes CLK!
The MAJOR difference is this is a car built by a professional race / tuning / design shop while I’m just a humble bloke that did a similar concept in his own garage with basic tools. The amount they invested is also clearly MUCH superior to that of my project. At a quick glance they probably dumped $100k in it.
10 inches was taken out of their car but and know that the roof was chopped to improve the aerodynamics. At “stage 1”, the Norris Evo was said to be pushing more than 800 HP. That’s twice what my original setup was. Their “stage 2” really brought the car into a time-attack beast pushing near 1000 HP. Again, twice of what I’m planning to eventually make! Here’s their final version:

My car will NEVER be as nasty as this, lest me winning the lottery! Grats to them, it’s surely a winner on the track!
